The history of Bonifacio Global City

BGC was previously part of a US military base and formerly names Fort McKinley. After the Philippines' political independence from the US in 1946, it was ceded to the Philippine Government which made it into a permanent army base.  Fort McKinley was subsequently renamed to Fort Bonifacio, after the national revolutionary hero Andres Bonifacio whose father was a native from Taguig. Starting 1995 when the land was opened for development, BGC has been transformed into one of the most modern business districts in the Philippines. After being turned to the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) in the 90's, its evolution into the place it is today began in 2003 when BCDA entered a partnership with Ayala Land, Inc. and Evergreen Holdings, Inc.
