BPOs still on fast track, says Megaworld
With the upskilling trend in the economy to meet changing demands of the business world, the Philippines’ business process outsourcing industry is still alive and kicking — said property developer Megaworld June of this year.
According to Megaworld owner Andrew Tan, “We don’t see signs of slowing down, because BPOs are also transforming, reinventing themselves, all the services have also changed from traditional voice, they’re now retooling a lot of employees, to take on more higher grade functions, or jobs.” He added, “If you talk to our American, foreign BPO clients, we ask them for indicators, they’re still looking to outsource a lot of these functions to Philippines, some say they’re even going to increase exposure in the Philippines vs other Asian neighbors.”
This reaffirms Leechiu Property Consultant (LPC)’s claim last year that BPOs are to drive office space demand this 2019. Last year, LPC reported that office space in the country reached a record high of 1.5 million sqm as of December 2018.
